Services Questions

In this section I just want to give you a short overview of our services in case there are questions.

Gutter Cleaning - What does it entail?

We thoroughly clean out the inside of the gutters and the outside.  We will climb onto your roof and use our hands and blower to clear out all debris.  We will clean the debris and spray out the gutter so your gutter can flow freely.

House Wash - what does this entail?

Using a chemical solution we will wash all exterior walls by spraying low pressure.   As we do this we will protect all plant life by diluting all plants before we begin and by spraying everything down as we finish.  We also have the option to cover plants with plastic or tarps.

Drive Ways and Sidewalks - What does this entail?

** note:  We don not want to pressure wash a driveway that is 4 years old or less**. This is the most popular thing that a pressure washer can do.  There is nothing better than a clean driveway.   It adds curb appeal to your home and makes the driveways and sidewalks more visible at night.   Plus it just looks so much better.  We begin by prewetting all plants along the sidewalk and driveway.  We will then clean the entire driveway using a surface cleaner.  If there are stains on the driveway we have a heated pressure washer that drastically helps remove stains.

Roof - What does this entail?

We will cover plantlife or spray water on all plantlife that will be in direct contact with runoff.  We will use a chemical solution to spray on the roof and kill all algae.  Occasionally if a roof has a lot of algae we will brush the tiles as well.  Then we will rinse the rooftop and give a final rinse to any plant life that may come in contact with chemicals.

Windows - What does this entail?

This is a hands-on approach.  We use a chemical solution to clean every window and remove all debris, we even scrape sticky stains off the windows.  Although it is not required we recommend cleaning the interior and exterior of windows for best results but we are willing to do as you wish.

Wood Decks - What does this entail?

With wood decks there are several possibilities.  One we can use Sodium Hydrochloride to clean it.  This will kill any green algie and get rid of dirt.  Just gives it a good clean look.  We also have some restoring chemicals that we can spray on.  This gives it a much newer look.

There is an element of restoration with wood decks however, we have to be careful.  If a wood deck has a stain, it may be a good idea to pressure wash just before coating it with a new stain.  Pressure can knock stains right off a deck.  Keep in mind that wood does age.  We can’t guarantee it will look brand new but I have seen some amazing results with our cleaners and a little pressure.   Nothing better than walking barefoot onto a newly clean deck.

Fences - What does this entail?

We will typically spray on chemicals.  We have several options we can use depending on what the fence looks like.  Most fences we spray with chemical and let it set for 10 to 20 minutes and then we do a pressure rinse.  This can be very time consuming depending on the size of the yard but it can yield amaizng results.

Solar Panels - What does this entail?

Most people don’t realize that when solar panels get dirty they don’t produce energy.  Some people use regular tap water to clean and it does the job temporarily but we take it to the next level.  We use a purified water system that filters the water down to it’s purest form.  This way there are no minerals that cloud up the panels like tap water does.  We do have chemicals we use but we rinse with purified water because of the water we use.  We use a gentle scrub brush that is designed specifically for solar panels and we give it a gentle rinse to remove any excess chemicals.

Important:  We typically try to get started on solar panels very early when it gets hot.  If the temperature is 100 degrees it can get as hot as 180 degrees on the surface of the roof or panel.  When we use water on a panel, it can crack them if it’s in the heat of the day so we try to get an early start when the weather is hot.

Stain Removal - What does this entail?

In Texas, it is not uncommon to get those red clay stains on the base of your home.  They don’t typically come off with water alone.  We have a heated pressure washer we can use on occasion or we have some miracle-working chemicals that do a great job getting rid of red dirt stains or even stains on the driveway.  Typically, if stains are on the driveway or brick, we can use pressure or heat.  On painted surfaces, we have to test the surface first.  The last thing we want to do is damage your paint.   I have to emphasize stains don’t always come out completely.  It depends on how long they have been there and what kind of surface they are on.  But we will do our best for our paying customers to make it look like new.

General Questions

What does soft wash mean?

I’m open to doing an event of any type.  As long as there is a water source.  High pressure can be dangerous so I would have to put some boundaries around me but I’m happy to take on any challenge.

Why would I hire Hydrology when I can pressure wash my own home?

I have extensive experience with home pressure washing and understand that it can be a time-consuming process. However, with my advanced equipment, I can complete the same tasks in a fraction of the time—typically one-third of what it would take using a standard residential pressure washer. I ensure that I am always stocked with the appropriate chemicals, so when you choose my services, you save valuable time by getting the job done in just a few hours, rather than spending an entire day on it.

In addition to time savings, using my services can also be more cost-effective, especially if you don’t own a pressure washer yourself. My expertise plays a significant role as well; an inexperienced individual can make costly mistakes, and certain surfaces require special care to avoid damage. I am fully insured, providing peace of mind in the event of any unforeseen issues, and you won’t have to worry about the inconvenience or liability associated with equipment failure. You can trust that I will handle the job professionally and responsibly.

Can Hydrology remove the red dirt stains from my exterior walls?

While we cannot guarantee the complete removal of concrete or red clay stains, we are able to achieve impressive results using heat and specialized chemicals. In many cases, we can effectively remove dirt stains. However, we want to be transparent that no guarantees can be made. What we can promise is that we will do our best, and in most instances, we can significantly reduce the appearance of tough stains, if not eliminate them entirely.

How long does cleaning take?

The time required to clean a home, business, or commercial vehicle depends on the specific services being provided. For example, cleaning a typical 1,700 square foot home with soft washing, gutter cleaning, window cleaning, roof cleaning, trash can cleaning, and driveway and sidewalk cleaning can take anywhere from 3 to 6 hours. The duration will vary based on factors such as the size of the driveway, sidewalk, and other areas being serviced.

Will anyone need to be home?

The short answer is no. However, if no one is home, we do require two things from our customers:

  1. A credit card is on file to process payment once the job is complete.
  2. That any pets be brought inside or securely locked up during the cleaning. Even if you feel your pet poses no harm, we ask that you take this precaution. If a pet is in the yard upon our arrival and no one is home, the job may need to be postponed.

Keep in mind this is as much to protect your pet as it is to protect myself or any employees.

Do I need to do anything to prepare for the cleaning?

Yes! I’m glad you asked. Here are a few things you can do to get ready:

  1. For a house wash: Please tape or seal any leaky windows or doors. Using duct tape along the door/window edges can help prevent leaks.
  2. Move vehicles: Park cars at least 15 feet away from the house.
  3. For porch cleaning: Remove decorations and furniture, placing them in a safe area away from the house.  We are able to move furniture and decor away from the house but there will be a $50 charge, simply because of the liability.
Do you use my water?

Yes. We need to have a working spigot to connect to. We use our own hoses but we will need your spigot.

Can I have you come look at my home/Busines without an Appointment?

On occasions we can come right away.   However we have a process and you will need to fill out our estimate request.

What if it rains on the day of my service?

A little rain won’t hurt but lightning just might.  I don’t want to put anyone at risk.  So if there are any storms or lightning in the area, unfortunately, we will need to reschedule.  Keep in mind we climb ladders and we’re often on roof tops and it can be very unsafe when rain is thrown into the equation.

What does Hydrology do in preperation of the job?

Good question.  We will do a walk around and cover all electrical outlets with duct tape.  Anything that would need to be covered in plastic like TV’s we will cover as well.  We look for anything that would be sensitive to chemicals or pressure.  IF it can be moved we will move it but if it is mounted we can either cover it in plastic or have a discussion on what we need to do to honor your wishes.

What if I'm not satisfied with the work that was done?

You can contact us within 48 hours and we’ll come back ASAP to fix the issue.

I've Never had my home washed . Why should I do this?

Pressure washing and soft washing are like maintenance.   It can wash out all the bugs and spider webs but it can also get rid of wasp nests or dirt dobber nests that can leave nasty stains on your home.  The longer those dirt dobber nests stay on your home the less likely we can remove the stain.  Plus it just feels good to have a clean home. You shower every day, right?  You probably wash your car occasionally. If you like to spend time on the back porch it can be a world of difference.  Personally, I do this because when I wash my home, it feels like a new house.  It gives me pride.   Did you know that some insurance companies have been dropping their customers because of moss or mold on their rooftops?  It’s true.  It happened to me, and I didn’t know that a good softwash could fix that.   An occasional wash can fix the issue without having to replace a roof.  Just a couple of things to think about.

Pricing Questions

Is there a minimum amount cost?

Yes and No.  That is a tough question to answer.  It depends on how far we travel and what the job entails.  There’s really no job too small but the more area we’re able to cover the bigger break we can give you pricewise.

Do you charge mileage outside of Tyler?

We try to group jobs together.  So, if (for example) I go as far as Athen’s I won’t charge mileage if I’m going to be doing multiple jobs.  However, typically yes we do charge mileage outside of our home area.  If we go further than 30 miles we do charge $1 per mile.

What form of payment do you accept?

We accept:  cash,  ACH payments, Apple Pay®, PayPal, or Venmo, cash and we will accept checks with pre-approval.

Is Hydrology Insured?

Yes.  We will always be covered by a one-million dollar policy.    We cover our own employees, equipment, and  you are covered in the event that we damage your property.

Do I have to pay anything up front?

We ask that you would pay a $50 non-refundable good faith, deposit in order to lock in your spot.  We do this to avoid cancellations.   A quote is free but to actually book the job a deposit will be required.  The $50 will go toward what was quoted for you.   If you do decide to reschedule your are welcome to do so and the $50 will still go toward your home service.  If you choose to cancel the $50 will not be refunded.

What will your services cost me?

We always try to keep it affordable.  This is the reason we do an estimate.  We will come walk the property and see what your needs are.  The price will depend on what is being done.  We can do an itemized estimate so you can see what you would like to have done and what is out of the question.  The price varies according to the situation.

Commercial Questions

Does Hydrology do events?

Yes!  Absolutely. The biggest issue is water supply.  As long as the event has a water spiget we are in business.  If the event is very remote it may require a water truck.    We also need to have a little space.  As you can imagine if we are washing in a live situation with people around, this type of pressure can be dangerous.  In order to keep things safe we would tape off an area that is adequate for us to do any washing.

What do you clean in the way of commercial?

Restaurant trash pads,  concrete parking lots,  windows, sidewalks, drive throughs, and even large commercial vehicles.  We will be happy to quote fleets as well.

Do you service oil field?

We are happy to service oil field.  I have a lot of experience in oil and gas and am familiar with the territory.  I would be happy to quote an oil field job if there is a water source.  All I would neet to know is how much insurance is required.

Does Hydrology offer heated pressure washing?

Yes.  Our machine will get up to 170 – 190 degrees.
